Ottawa sculptor Norman Pirollo uses wood as his primary medium, drawing inspiration from its inherent beauty. Born in Toronto, Norman was later raised in Montreal where he pursued his studies in the technology sector. After moving to Ottawa in his twenties, Norman continued to pursue these studies while working at a career. During this period Norman also began to explore art and specifically working with wood as a medium. He pursued alternative studies to enable him to master this form of art and today creates wood art in all forms ranging from sculpture to wall art and one of a kind studio furniture.
Norman continually challenges himself with new techniques and processes, which result in clean, contemporary works celebrating the natural organic forms surrounding us in our environment. His contemporary styled sculptural and wall art are a creative combination of subtle yet dramatic features: his unique designs incorporate the unusual graphics found in vibrant woods to depict images or visions. Norman is a member of various local art associations and shows his work regularly at the owaa Gallery as well as the Shenkman Arts Center. His work is also on display at the Arbor Gallery in Vankleek Hill, Ontario. Norman has also been the recipient of awards within the past two years.
Norman has participated in numerous juried art shows since 2008. His work has also been featured in the following books: “Studio Furniture: Today’s Leading Woodworkers”, “Wood Art Today 2″ and “500 Cabinets” as well as various international magazines.
Norman today enjoys creating both speculative art as well as commission work. He can be contacted for commission work as well as the purchase of any of his available art.
