Sandy’s passion for art stems from spending many hours as a young girl painting with her grandfather who was an accomplished mixed media artist.
The inspiration for her art is derived from her intuition, imagination and creativity. Her love of colour and texture is displayed in the various mixed media techniques and materials used in each piece. She enjoys abstraction which allows each piece to have more feeling and movement.
As a mixed media artist Sandy is unconfined to any particular technique or medium. Each time she employs a new medium she plays with it; exploring and probing its qualities and limitations. Once familiar with the new medium she then takes it to a new height by combining it with other media. The possibilities are never ending and quite often the result is a ‘surprise’!
Sandy has studied art at Loyalist College, St. Lawrence College, Nepean Visual and Creative Art Centres, Ottawa School of Art and with other artists in Canada and the United States.
Her art has been shown at the Nepean Visual Arts Centre, D’OMMA Gallery, St. Elmo’s Fire, Britannia Gallery, PWGSC United Way, Arts Court Theatre, ArtWorks Gallery, and other venues including art donations to various charities.
Sandy accepts commissions and enjoys creating custom art work that suits her client’s décor.
