Attestation to Originality

I attest that all of the artwork I will submit for exhibition is my original work. I will not submit copies, studies, kits, or works created under instruction in classes or workshops. My submissions will adhere to the Gallery Exhibiting Standards in the OWAA Members' Handbook.

A condition of membership in the OWAA is the willing and active participation as a volunteer. I agree to help the OWAA by volunteering my time and energy as assigned by, and agreed with, the OWAA Executive.

I release the City of Ottawa, the Goulbourn Recreation Complex, the OWAA and the owaa gallery from any responsibility regarding my artwork in the event of fire, theft, loss or damage to my artwork.

I agree to the above terms

Please submit this application form and send a cheque for $30.00 payable to OWAA. Mail your payment to our Treasurer, Trudy Daley, 10 Brightside Avenue, Stittsville, Ontario K2S 1K5. Upon receipt of payment, you will receive an email with instructions to create your online OWAA profile and website gallery.

OWAA Membership Benefits
Bi-Monthly Exhibitions
There will be six (6) bi-monthly exhibitions every calendar year, with changeovers scheduled on Saturday mornings. Each Member may submit one large piece (no larger than 40"x32"; outside dimensions) for hanging in the owaa gallery for each exhibition. Exhibiting members may also submit one small piece (no larger than 14"x14"; outside dimensions) for display in the two vertical glass cabinets. As there is room for only eleven (11) pieces in these cabinets, acceptance will be on a first-come-first-served basis.
Special Exhibitions
Subject to the availability of volunteers, the OWAA may organize special exhibitions. For example, the OWAA has presented an annual OWAA Anniversary exhibition in the October-November timeframe, at which members may rent exhibition space to display their artworks.
Artists Catalogs
Members may submit an Artist Profile, which may include member information and any photos of their work. This statement is to be printed on an 8-1/2” x 11” white sheet of paper and may include both sides. The Artist Profiles will be laminated and placed alphabetically in the two owaa gallery Artists Catalogues at the GRC. The catalogues are used for promoting OWAA artists.
OWAA Website
The OWAA Website provides space for members to exhibit their artworks online. Members may submit digital images (JPEG format) of their artworks to the Website Coordinator for inclusion in the website. Members may submit images of their artworks for display in a "Featured Artist" slideshow. As well, members may provide an Artist's Statement (or Profile) complete with contact information and links to their own website, Facebook Page, or Twitter Page.
Members will receive a 15% discount from Walkerworks Picture Framing (2 Beverly Street, Stittsville) upon showing their OWAA Membership Card.
Members are encouraged to take leadership roles in the OWAA according to their interest and abilities. For example, interest has been expressed in the past for establishing a stand-alone gallery. This would be one example where a member might help with a major initiative. Members are encouraged to arrange informative events including speakers, classes, workshops, and demonstrations. All suggestions should be submitted to the Executive.
